Intraoral scanner LAVA COS
Digitalization is a common phenomenon which energetically enters the dentistry industry.
Previously, in order to make a crown or a connector to the implant, it was necessary to make a tooth impression and prepare a gypsum jaw model. On each stage it is possible to make mistakes related to shrinkage of prosthetic materials, gypsum fracture or inaccuracy of the impression. In some prosthetic laboratories, the model received is digitalized (scanned) but previously made mistakes are not removed! Such a way of conduct does not eliminate the inaccuracies related to traditional impressions.
Since 2012 we have been using intraoral scanner LAVA C.O.S. in our clinic which allows for collecting an electronic impression (scanning) directly in the patient's mouth. Due to it we omit the subsequent stages of preparation of a traditional gypsum model what minimizes the risk of inaccurate projection of the prosthetic field. The accuracy of intraoral scans reaches 13-18 µm! The impression precision results in the tightness (accuracy) of prosthetic works and long-term use. It is of special importance with regard to minimizing dental caries risk under the crowns.
The scanner size is comparable with the finger size what allows for safe impression performance even in patients with retching.
